Smart Auto-Cropping for Better Try-On Results
"We've introduced a smart auto-cropping feature that automatically centers and frames user photos for higher quality virtual try-ons."
We've shipped smart auto-cropping: DrapX now automatically detects, centers, and frames the person in uploaded photos before generation, which means noticeably better try-on results from the casual photos shoppers actually upload.
The Problem It Solves
Real shoppers don't upload studio portraits. They upload mirror selfies at an angle, full-room shots where they're a third of the frame, and photos with tilted horizons. Off-center, small, or skewed subjects used to produce weaker renders because the engine had less body detail to work with.
What Auto-Cropping Does
- Detects the person and crops to an optimal framing automatically.
- Corrects centering so body geometry estimation gets maximum detail.
- Runs invisibly before generation. Shoppers just get better results, with no extra step.
Why It Matters for Conversion
Result quality is the whole ballgame in try-on: a convincing render builds purchase confidence, a poor one plants doubt. Auto-cropping raises the floor. The worst-case upload now produces a result much closer to the best case, so more of your shoppers see themselves convincingly in your garments. It's live now on all plans, at the same roughly 9-second speed.
